Navigable Waters

Many people are unaware of the rules and regulations for waterways that protect recreational boaters as well as those who work on the river. All rivers are owned by the state in which they are located but held in trust for public use, enjoyment and commerce. Many waterways given status under this law are determined "rivers” under legal definitions.

The Benson Law Firm has experience with the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C. § 688 (1970). This law provides benefits that are completely different from other workers, due to the injury occurring while working on the water. You must have an experienced attorney guide you through your cases and navigable waters law.
